We would like to be able to communicate test results with you by SMS TEXT
As a practice, we are reviewing the way our patients receive their results. We hope that this will “free up” the telephone lines to allow patients who do not have mobile phones or just need to talk to us quicker access.
Providing your consent for this will allow us to let you know the results of important tests quickly.
This is an optional service and you may wish to pick up your results in the same way as you have done previously. You can also withdraw consent at any time. Please note if you do withdraw consent this will also include appointment text reminders.
o You will not always receive texts for all tests taken.
o On occasion it may not be appropriate to communicate details of your results by text so we may text you asking you to call the surgery to discuss your results
o You will often receive more than one text as one blood test appointment can give many results, it is not an error.
o Some tests results arrive from the laboratory quicker than others so there may be gaps between results
o Some results will be normal and will not require any action. Others may not be normal and you may be asked to contact the surgery to discuss the results with a member of our team.
o Your GP may look at your results in the evening and so you may receive a late text. This does not indicate there is anything worrying in your results. We are likely to ring you in this situation.
o There are certain results we cannot communicate via text for example Xrays, smears, biopsy results.
o ENSURE THAT THE MOBILE NUMBER YOU PROVIDE IS CORRECT AND SECURE
o LET US KNOW IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MOBILE NUMBER/DETAILS – THIS CAN BE DONE VIA ANY CLINICIAN, RECEPTION OR ONLINE.
o IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED A TEXT MESSAGE 10 DAYS FOLLOWING YOUR TESTS, THEN PLEASE RING THE SURGERY FOR ADVICE
